Enter Award 2024 – apply for the Open Access Award until 30 April 2024!

Lambert Heller from TIB‘s Open Science Lab is a jury member

The Enter Award 2024 honours those who make research freely accessible or support others in doing so: Scientists, research institutions, libraries, museums, archives, repositories and other committed individuals.

The nationwide prize for Open Access will be awarded for the first time in 2024. It provides a significant impetus for Open Access to scientific knowledge, promotes the democratisation of knowledge, breaks down information barriers and contributes to the creation of a more inclusive research landscape. The Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) sponsors the Enter Award. The ThinkTank iRights.Lab is responsible for its realisation.

Applications and submissions of proposals now possible

From now until 30 April 2024, it is possible to apply directly via the Enter Award website in one of the five award categories . Anyone who knows people, institutions or organisations that should definitely apply for the Enter Award can nominate them until 22 April 2024. Simply send an email to enter-awardirights-labde.

The award categories

In the five categories “Cooperation”, ”Infrastructure”, “Competence Transfer”, ”Pioneering Achievement” and ”Young Talent”, the Enter Award is looking for people and organisations that are actively committed to Open Access. The prize is endowed with 1,000 Euros per category.

Lambert Heller, Head of the Open Science Lab at TIB, will be a member of the jury when the award is presented for the first time in Berlin in July 2024: ”With fresh perspectives, courage, good ideas and successful technical and organisational implementations, many people are helping to advance Open Access every day. For the culture of Open Access, it is a very great initiative by iRights Lab to recognise these people – or at least some of them! – to honour them. This will make their work even more visible and perhaps even inspire others. I'm looking forward to receiving as many great and exciting submissions as possible!”

In a decision-making process involving several steps, a jury will select the winners who will be honoured with the Enter Award 2024 at the award ceremony. The jury members are Prof Dr Leonhard Dobusch (University of Innsbruck), Prof Dr Ellen Euler (FH Potsdam), Lambert Heller (TIB), Dr Christina Riesenweber (HU Berlin University Library), Dr Anja Oberländer (University of Konstanz), Dr Anne-Sophie Waag (Wikimedia Deutschland) and Dr Karin Werner (transcript Verlag).
